Description

Benzo[b]heterocycles were prepd. by reaction of an arylacetylene with an o-halophenol or o-haloaniline in the presence of a bidentate Cu(I) catalyst. Thus, reaction of PhC≡CH with 2-IC6H4NH2 in the presence of [Cu(phen)(PPh3)]NO3 (prepn. given) in PhMe at 110° for 24 h gave 92% 2-phenyl-1H-indole. [on SciFinder(R)]
